"Faces" is an idea I've had for quite a while. The first sketches I did of these faces were way back in second and third grade during art class. I neglected my idea, what I aptly called "Face-O" back then, for years after. But that's in the past. Now I'm glad to be giving new life and humor to the doodles I remember from my childhood. |

Like anyone who starts a web comic, I want many people to read and find enjoyment from my comics and characters. In fact, my biggest personal goal for this strip is to create and center each comic around fleshed-out characters. Many web comics aim for jokes -- random jokes -- and seem to skip the step of giving their characters, well, any character or personality. I love random humor, don't get me wrong. This comic will be full of random left-field jokes. But I am also trying hard to create unique characters that can change and grow. I want them to each have distinct personalities wholly separate from any other character. Believe me, I'm not aiming for Pulitzer Prize winning plots and characterization; I just want to give my characters some bucket-deep depth. My other goals are to often have several comics in "parts" so I can tell longer stories with more characters then I ever could in three panels. I'm also fond of referencing back to older jokes, characters, and material, so read them in order, for more jokes to make sense. |

Every character in every comic is hand-drawn with a fine tip permanent marker. Then, using the most advanced editing tools and software (a scanner and MS Paint) I clean them up, slap some words in the frames, and call the finished product "Internet Worthy." I also cut and paste now and again; their pill-shaped eyes are tricky to get right every time. Sue me! (Please, don't.) |

For fun mostly. To see if others enjoy my characters and humor. And who knows? Maybe I might be able to make some green from my material if it expands and matures more. For now though, "Faces" is for my own, and hopefully others, comedic enjoyment. |

To challenge myself and work on developing each and every one. To make certain jokes, conflicts, and plots I want possible. To create relationships between them, good and bad. And to give each reader more options in choosing whom to enjoy and whom to hate. |

"Faces" is a PG-13 style webcomic, meaning occasional foul language, occasional adult situations, and occasional pokes at culture, race, and religion will surface. My earlier comics are crass, I understand, but I like to believe that somewhere along the timeline that amatuer tone shifted into something that is more reliant upon ACTUAL humor. Still, sometimes the best punch lines are dirty ones, even if overuse of swearing can detract from one's enjoyment of the characters and material (hence the first 20 "Faces" comics). Just accept that Dennis, Ruth, and the other Faces will say naughty things from time to time. And Jesus on a trampoline, please DO NOT take offense at this silliness, which leads into... |

Firstly --and this is crucial-- TAKE NO OFFENSE from any of my strips involving God. Allow me to explain. This joke is one I made solely for the characters in my comic. The God they refer to (and often insult in horrible ways) is the artist who traps them in the strip and makes their lives miserable. So namely, the God in "Faces" is myself. If you've read a handful of my comics, hopefully you know that my characters tend to break The Fourth Wall quite often. I figure what better way to hammer that home then to have my characters express their displeasure by insulting the artist and the choices he makes for them. They reference God (me) by either calling him “God,” “He,” “Him,” or “That Asshole.” Again, it is NOT my intention to belittle any reader's religious morals or beliefs. My God jokes are symbiotic with the characters in "Faces." Plus, I don't really care if they take my name in vain. |

Precariously, I am starting an updating schedule of Thursdays and Sundays, usually in the evenings. In other words, I will never update more then three times a week. Oftentimes I will update once with multiple comics. There will also be weeks when I will only be able to update when I have free time. For now, stick to Thursdays and Sundays. Check the site often. |

Absolutely! By all means go ahead. I’d be very thankful and flattered if you did. The only potential this site and comic will have for success now and in the future is if the word spreads. Use the Interwebs, tell others, use smoke signals: whatever you want. Feel free to grab a link banner under the "Extras" page. Just be sure to give credit where credit is due. |
